My name is Tatiana Divilek and I am a Junior at Riverdale Country School. I enjoy working with children and have experience planning and doing activities with children from the Riverdale Neighborhood House with the club Riverdale Community Partners. I want to tutor elementary students in reading because I have been an avid reader for as long as I can remember. I have been working with my younger sister in her process of learning how to read, an experience in which I display patience and positivity: two traits I will show in my tutoring sessions. I will prepare for sessions with my students by outlining my lesson plan and bringing in reading passages from different books or short stories for us to work on together. Also, depending on my client's wishes, I can also help with comprehension of my student's school reading and help guide them through the reading and possible annotating process. Depending on the age and skill of my student, I also am open to using flashcards with vocabulary to help my student sound out words and read aloud. I plan to start all of my sessions with check-in, ice-breaker questions or just gauging how they are feeling at the moment. I then will move on to review some of what we worked on the last session and then move on to new material, focusing mostly on practice work.
