Hi, my name is Samantha Crystal I'm 15 years old and a student in 10th grade at the Hewitt school. I have had experience tutoring for over three years with both high school friends and middle school students. I have mainly tutored writing, which is what I hope to continue to teach. Beyond tutoring, I have had experience babysitting, from which I learned how to understand and empathize with kids. One of the qualities I bring to the table that I believe aids my tutoring capabilities is making my lessons engaging and somewhat relatable. Whether through multiple choice questions or writing prompts, I like to make my material fun and approachable. I understand that the time I have to tutor is valuable, so I customize all my sessions to individual students to make the most of our time. I will reach out to my clients to understand what exactly their student needs so I can make the most progress in our lessons. To give you an idea of what my sessions would look like, I always begin with warm-up work to ease into the main lesson. From there, we will move into the area of focus for the day and then end with a review of everything we went through. While I will create the lessons, they will also include external material from reliable sources and websites. All of the recourses included I have used through my school and can attest to their reliability. In addition to my tutoring experience with the subject matter, I have also taken advanced extension courses in my English class that have furthered my knowledge and writing capabilities. Overall, I hope to tutor students this school year because it is something I honestly enjoy doing and have a passion for. I am confident that with my experience and advanced knowledge, I will be able to aid students and be a helpful asset to their writing progress.
