Hi, my name is Samantha Crystal I'm 15 years old and a student in 10th grade at the Hewitt school. I have had experience tutoring for over three years with both high school friends and middle school students. My most recent tutoring experience has been in mathematics, which is one of my favorite subjects to teach. Beyond tutoring, I have had experience babysitting, from which I learned how to understand and empathize with kids. One of the qualities I bring to the table that I believe aids my tutoring capabilities is making my lessons engaging and somewhat relatable. Whether through word problems or fundamentals, I like to make my material fun and approachable. I understand that the time I have to tutor is valuable, so I customize all my sessions to individual students to make the most of our time. I will reach out to my clients to understand what exactly their student needs so I can make the most progress in our lessons. To give you an idea of what my sessions would look like, I always begin with warm-up problems to ease into the main lesson. From there, we will move into the area of focus for the day and then end with a review of everything we went through. While I will create the lessons, they will also include external material from reliable sources and websites. All of the recourses included I have used through my school and can attest to their reliability. In addition to my tutoring experience with the subject matter, I am currently taking an advanced mathematics class which has forced me to work on my explanation skills and improved my overall knowledge of the subject. I hope to tutor students this school year because it is something I honestly enjoy doing and have a passion for. I am confident that with my experience and advanced knowledge, I will be able to aid students and be a helpful asset to their math progress.
