Hello! My name is Jai Malhotra, and I am a Junior at Riverdale Country School. Throughout my middle school and high school career, I have been a very strong Math student. When I was younger, I was in the top 2% of 22,428 Kumon students in my age group, earning a place on the honor roll. I earned recognition from the organization for doing Sophomore level math in the 5th and 6th grades. I have extensive experience in problem-solving, as I participated in the Math Circle for a few years. Over the summer in 2021, I taught 100 hours of English and Math Classes for underprivileged children in the Hamara Gurukul organization in India. As a tutor for Teen NYC, I hope to use this experience to teach my students how to solve problems as efficiently and effectively as possible, while also making the learning process enjoyable. My elementary school students will gain a strong sense of basic mathematical concepts going into middle school, as I will consistently challenge their logical problem-solving ability. I will prepare detailed lesson plans for each session, which will include an explanation of a topic, practice and challenge problems, worksheets, Kahoots (and other trivia games), and brief assessments to make sure the student is making good progress. I will also provide homework for the week (if desired by my clients), and reach out to my clients with a Progress Report after each session.
