Hi! My name is Hanzhang Swen and I'm a junior at Horace Mann School. I'm super excited to tutor writing for middle schoolers. I frequently write for my school's newspaper “The Record” and I have extensive experience working with middle schoolers from my school's debate outreach programs. I've worked with 6th-8th graders from Horace Mann School as well as students from a local public school called Intech Academy in the Bronx, so I have a good feel for what middle schoolers are like and how to work with them. I'm incredibly passionate about the humanities and consider history and English my strongest subjects. I write multiple History and English essays yearly and have always received positive feedback from my teachers. I know what kinds of things teachers look for in writing assignments and I am able to transfer that knowledge to your child. I received 4s on the ELA back in elementary school and 9s on both the ISEE and ERBS in middle school. I can help with constructing a topic sentence, finding supporting evidence, and building the overall structure of a great essay. I am extremely organized and will make sure as a tutor to always check in with both the parent and child. I am always available over text/email and will make it a priority to be accessible at all times.
