Hi, I'm Elle! I'm a current high school senior at Berkeley Carroll, located in Park Slope Brooklyn! I’ve been tutoring middle school math, grades 5-8 for the past 3 years. I worked as a teacher's assistant at Berkeley Carroll for incoming middle schoolers. This past summer, I volunteered at the “GO Project,” working with low-income Kindergarteners struggling with math and English. I worked with elementary school teachers and teacher’s assistants daily. I learned about the many different learning styles–visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic. For example one of my students enjoyed coloring–which we incorporated by using color by number adding and subtracting worksheets. His math knowledge grew exponentially. I enjoy watching my students become confident learners and develop a love for math. I will communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding the student’s progress or need for additional support. I will also contact parents to learn about the student–the student’s challenges, preferred learning style, as well as their interests. This will be helpful in planning according to their unique style of learning. My love of math, patience, and understanding nature make me an ideal tutor for your younger students.
