Chris Femino | Elementary School Reading Tutor

My name is Chris Femino, and I am currently in the first year of a Master's degree program for Public Health at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine. As I continue in my quest of attending Medical School, I’ve developed some amazing study habits and time management skills which have translated into my being well-versed in any topic I set my mind to. I hope to bring these meticulous study habits and skills learned throughout the entirety of my own academic journey in order to help my students within their own subject matter. It is always important to develop such academic skills at a young age so that it may stay with them for the rest of their lives. I plan to hold an initial assessment/meeting with my students so that I may gather any information pertaining to the subject matter at hand along with what they are struggling in/need help with the most. Following this initial meeting, and based on each individual student, I will create a lesson plan geared towards building comprehensive reading skills. Through my lessons, we will practice dissecting certain passages so that it may become second nature for the student to not only read well, but to also understand what is trying to be conveyed through the story. I will assign reading for homework that will consist of questions geared towards setting the right mindset for the student to come back and go over in my future sessions. When it comes to building reading skills it is always important to continuously practice, so hopefully, once we find that subject that fosters the most enjoyment in the student, they too will eventually want to read and practice on their own.
