Bethany Jarrett | Elementary School Reading Tutor

Hello! My name is Bethany and I am a junior at Horace Mann School. I have always had a passion for reading and I love to share my appreciation for literature with younger students. I have extensive experience working with elementary-age children - I was a volunteer tutor at the Part of the Solution Community Center in the Bronx for 3 years, tutoring 1st-3rd grade students in ELA and facilitating fun and educational games and activities. I also worked at my elementary school's academic Summer Bridge Camp preparing rising 1st-4th graders for the upcoming school year using the Wordly Wise reading and vocabulary curriculum, as well as working at Kids in the Game summer camp for 8 weeks in Summer 2021 as a counselor for campers age 3-7. I am still in close contact with the directors of these programs, and therefore I am lucky to have a wealth of resources I can utilize to ensure the best, most enriched tutoring sessions for my students. I have also consistently scored above the 90th percentile on the Reading and English sections of the ISEE, ACT, and SAT. My goal is to foster a love of and excellence in reading in every student I teach, and I would be so excited to share my skills with your child!
