Aya Gilad-Muth | Middle School Math Tutor

My name is Aya, and I am a junior at the Institute for Collaborative Education. I have taken advanced math classes since 7th grade. I have two previous years of tutoring experience with middle schoolers. This experience includes helping kids catch up on homework, understanding new topics when they are introduced in class, preparing for tests, as well as getting a bit ahead of the class. I can tutor for classes in general, but I can also tutor for standardized tests, as well as the SHSAT alongside regular curriculum tutoring if that's something you are interested in for your child. I enjoy tutoring because I simply enjoy math, and so not only will I help your child solve the math, I will make sure they understand the theory and reasoning behind why the concepts they are learning work. In middle school, math is a very important subject to master because every single foundational topic you learn in middle school will be expanded upon in depth and complexity when you get to high school. My specialty is explaining topics multiple ways, so if your kid didn't understand the topic the way their teacher taught it, I will always be able to explain it in a different way that will make sense to them. Making sure your kid understands not only how a concept works but also why it works is imperative for building a baseline on which to understand high school math. As well, remembering math formulas and rules is much easier if you know why they work.
