Hi, my name is Ashley Coburn and I am a junior at Horace Mann. I currently tutor elementary school students at many different reading levels. I enjoy tutoring young kids because I think tutoring allows children to learn differently than how they learn in school through personalized learning and gives them the resources to further understand and excel in many different topics. I like to communicate with parents either before or after tutoring to keep them up to date with their child's learning, as I think it helps to build a stronger connection between the parent and child, and allows parents to be aware of what their child needs to work on academically. Additionally, I like to use a variety of fun books, lesson plans, and interactive games to see which resources work best for each individual child. I also like to use incentives, like stickers, pencils, and possibly little snacks, to push the child to achieve their best.
