Hi, my name is Ashley Coburn and I am a Junior at Horace Mann School. I currently tutor elementary school students in various mathematical topics. I enjoy tutoring young kids because I think tutoring allows children to learn differently than how they learn in school through personalized learning and gives them the resources to further understand and excel in many different topics. While tutoring, I like to communicate with parents to keep them up to date with their child's learning, as I think it helps to build a stronger connection between the parent and child, and allows parents to be aware of what their child needs to work on academically. Additionally, I like to use a variety of fun worksheets, lesson plans, and explanation videos to see which resources work best for each individual child. I also like to use incentives, like stickers, pencils, and potentially little snacks, to push the child to achieve their best.
