Hi, my name is Alexandra, and I am a current Freshman at The Spence School. This past summer, as a camp counselor, I cared for children ages one to twelve. I also have experience teaching reading to younger students through a peer tutoring program. This helped me learn how to best fit the needs of younger children while keeping them engaged in a learning environment. I helped my student with reading basics and, later on, reading comprehension. While tutoring, I would use many online tools, such as e-books and whiteboards (for Zoom lessons), to better engage my students and help them understand the material. I am interested in teaching elementary school reading because students at that age are at their beginning reading stages, so it is imperative to make sure they learn skills and also enjoy recreational reading.
