Alex Arturi | Middle School Math Tutor

My name is Alex Arturi and I am a junior at Brooklyn Technical High School. In my educational career, I have always had a passion for STEM based subjects, especially math. That is why I am tutoring middle school math. I have always had a strong understanding of math because I feel like I had a strong understanding of the fundamentals of math. At the middle school level, it is the time when math starts to have real-life implications. This includes an understanding of rates, data, geometry, probability, relationships, etc. Middle school math is a time in which many fundamentals of more complicated math are introduced such as the early beginnings of algebra - which is evident in almost any branch of math. I plan to reinforce these fundamentals in my tutoring sessions so that the more intricate problems become easier. In my early sessions, I plan to conduct diagnostics to see in which of these areas I notice particular levels of weakness. I will use resources like Khan Academy as well as online textbooks to extract practice problems and assignments for the student. I will use these to compile solving strategies as well as sample problems for the student to practice. Lastly, I look forward to meeting the students because I have always loved working with kids. I have a lot of experience babysitting for various friends, family, and others and enjoy the discussions I have with them. I plan to consistently maintain relations with the guardian(s) of the student and will always promote transparency. Thanks for reading and I hope we can work together!
