My name is Alex Arturi and I am a junior at Brooklyn Technical High School. In my educational career, I have always had a passion for STEM based subjects, especially math. That is why I am tutoring elementary school math. I have always had a strong understanding of math because I feel like I had a strong understanding of the fundamentals of math. At the elementary level, it is essential to reinforce the fundamentals of mathematics. This includes having a grasp on what each of the four basic properties in math do. In my early sessions, I plan to make sure I understand where the student is at in this area before moving forward to more intricate topics. I plan to use visualization in my teaching because I always benefitted from visuals and I understand that other students learn more by seeing visuals than by reading text. Furthermore, I will use resources like Khan Academy as well as online textbooks to extract practice problems and assignments for the student. I will use these to compile solving strategies as well as sample problems for the student to practice. Lastly, I look forward to meeting the students because I have always loved working with smaller kids. I have a lot of experience babysitting for various friends, family, and others and enjoy the discussions I have with them. I plan to consistently maintain relations with the guardian(s) of the student and will always promote transparency. Thanks for reading and I hope we can work together!
